When we finished our tour of cities in Oregon, we realized we were only about 2 hours from the coast. We decided that we couldn't be that close and not let the kids see the ocean so we went. It was so amazingly beautiful. We saw some seals and sea lions sunbathing, gathered shells, played in the water, discovered sea anenomeas (the kids liked to poke them with their fingers and they would close up around them), and ate clam chowder and fish and chips until we were stuffed.

We also discovered a great big rock with a cave in it. It was fun to explore the rocks and find all sorts of sea creatures.

Sounds like a great trip, I love the ocean.
I'm glad you are spontaneous and take adventures like that! It looks like a beautiful day at the beach.
