When our time at the ocean was over we headed home with reluctance. We decided to drive to Crater lake. It used to be a huge volcano. When it erupted, it left this big crater which was sealed by lava. As it snowed and rain the water accumulated and formed the giant lake. The island in the middle is called Wizard Island because it looks like a wizard hat. The lake is beautiful and very blue. It is so high in the mountains that there was tons of snow. We hadn't planned on going to the coast or to Crater Lake so the kids didn't have all the right stuff to really enjoy either place. Even though they were freezing, they managed to have a great snowball fight.

Overall, we had a great trip. On our way home we even stopped in John Day, OR where Grandpa and Grandma used to have their ranch. I told the kids great ranch stories and had a good time remembering all the fun times we had there.
